Before we start designing the storage consider two things:
1. Look at what you want to store
2. See how much space you can allocate for the storage
The things that you might want to store:
Long hanging- (overcoats, long dresses) usually single section of approx 350 to 500mm wide is enough.
Let’s design a wardrobe.
Long hanging rail going to be used mainly for long dresses and overcoats
Long garments still leave sufficient space for one adjustable shelf above and below hanging. Adjustable shelves can be lowered or heightened or removed to make more space if dress is extra long.
Short hanging that would be shirts, skirts, jackets, trousers. Hanging rails can be fixed one at waist and other at head height giving very practical and effective solution.
Shelves are good for folded clothes (garments), handbags, hats, shoes.
We recommended adjustable shelves then storage is more flexible for example shelves can be removed in the shelving unit to make room for luggage
Or space can be used for another short hanging:
Overhead space we can divide into compartments with single shelf. Or overhead space can be left as it is for the stuff you use less often.
Underwear, socks best stored in drawers. Drawers can as well be made shallow for your jewellery, cosmetics, ties, belts and scarves. Made to measure drawers can be quite expensive and if you are on the budget you might keep the number of drawers to the minimum.
Ties and belts can be conveniently hung on tie and belt racks.
Once you done this part you are ready to move onto designing doors and choosing colours with help of our guides.
